ASK is a service available to all Falmouth and Exeter University students. We offer drop-in sessions and individual support to help with academic work. We also deliver sessions on study skills including reading, research, academic writing and referencing.

What other resources can ASK: Academic Skills offer?

The StudyHub website brings together videos and guides to support your studies. It can help you with getting organised, lectures, research, reading and notemaking, digital literacy, critical thinking, minimising stress, written assignments, referencing, presentations, exams and revision.

You can select either the Penryn or Falmouth Campus and book a date and time to suit you.  If there is not a slot available that is suitable, then please email us ask@fxplus.ac.uk or call 01326 370438.  Each appointment is 40 minutes long.

Yes, please let us know in advance (preferably 24 hours' notice) so that we can make the appointment available to other students.

Yes. Even if it is a really rough draft, it is useful for the tutor to be able to read through it before hand to enable us to then make the most of the appointment time we have with you offering feedback and working on progressing your writing.  Please send your work through at least 4 hours before the appointment to ask@fxplus.ac.uk.  Please bring your assignment brief with you too.

Yes. We can offer to look at work sent via email and can respond via this method, Skype or discuss feedback over the phone.  However, we much prefer to see you in person if possible.

We do encourage students who are in receipt of DSA (Disables Students Allowance) to work with the Dyslexia Skills department for regular hourly tutorials.  If you don't receive DSA please book with us.

Further information on the support available to students with Dyslexia can be found by clicking on all FAQs under Disability Support & Accessability.

ASK: Academic Skills are not a proofreading service, but can offer lots of helpful advice regarding editing your work and spotting mistakes.

The Info-Perch is a drop-in session for students. ASK advisers and Academic Liaison Librarians perch around campus to answer your queries.

This is an opportunity for you to drop in for advice regarding dissertations, essay writing, referencing, study skills (ASK) and research questions (Academic Liaison Librarians). See our What’s On pages for further information:
